Jeff Conant

Senior International Forests Program Director, Friends of the Earth U.S.

Jeff Conant directs Friends of the Earth’s international forests program, which protects forests and the rights of forest-dependent peoples by addressing the economic drivers of forest destruction. He is the author A Poetics of Resistance: The Revolutionary Public Relations of the Zapatista Insurgency and the co-author and coordinator of A Community Guide to Environmental Health, a grassroots educational manual published in over a dozen languages.

Through collaborative partnerships, we support innovative projects that protect vulnerable wildlife from extinction, while restoring balance to threatened ecosystems and communities. Our work is divided into six main program areas – Wildlands Conservation, Oceans Conservation, Climate Change, Indigenous Rights, Transforming California, and Innovative Solutions.
